Is It Possible to Get Veneers Without Trimming Your Teeth?

Is It Possible to Get Veneers Without Trimming Your Teeth? When you decide to get veneers, you may be doing it for a variety of reasons. You may have a chipped tooth or you may just want your teeth to look whiter. Some people have teeth that won't respond to the typical whitening method.

It could be that the stains are too bad or uneven, which would make the whitening uneven as well. Or it could just be genetics. Not all people inherit teeth that are bright white and simply stain or yellow with age due to diet or tobacco use.

In either case, typically when we place veneers on your teeth, we have to trim the teeth so that they are the same thickness as the veneer. Trimming the tooth mean that some of the enamel is removed from the tooth we place the veneer on. We do this because otherwise the tooth will be thicker than the surrounding teeth. If you get veneers on all of the visible teeth all of them will be thicker. That is why trimming is done first.

How Can You Get Dental Veneers Without Trimming?

Fortunately, advances are always being made in the dental arena much like advances in medical science. As dentists, we want to help our patients achieve the look they desire with as little pain or discomfort as possible. We also would prefer you do not have to return multiple times for a procedure. We do not want to waste your sick days from work any more than you do. The good news is that advances have been made in the veneer arena.

So, What Is New?
A new type of veneer has been produced. These veneers are ultra-thin, and this design is what makes the typical trimming unnecessary. They are made with a new exceptionally strong type of porcelain. Call for an appointment so we can get you started and answer any questions you may have.
